Syndol Tablets are for the short term treatment of acute moderate pain, which is not relieved by paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone, such as headache, tension headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, dysmenorrhoea, muscular and rheumatic aches and pains and post-operative analgesia following surgical or dental procedures.

Syndol Tablets are a combination medication containing four active ingredients: Paracetamol, Codeine Phosphate, Doxylamine Succinate, and Caffeine. This powerful combination provides relief from acute moderate pain that other common painkillers like paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin may not address. Syndol is typically used for the short-term treatment of conditions such as:

  • Headaches, including muscle contraction and tension headaches
  • Migraines
  • Neuralgia (nerve pain)
  • Period pain
  • Toothache and other dental pain
  • Muscular and rheumatic aches and pains
  • Pain following surgery or dental procedures

How Does Syndol Work?

Each active ingredient in Syndol serves a specific purpose:

  • Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer), helping to ease discomfort and reduce fever.
  • Codeine Phosphate is an opioid analgesic that works by blocking pain signals in the brain.
  • Doxylamine Succinate is an antihistamine that also has sedative properties, helping to reduce pain and promote relaxation.
  • Caffeine is a mild stimulant that can enhance the pain-relieving effects of the other ingredients.

Important Information You Should Know Before Taking Syndol

  • Syndol is intended for short-term use only, for up to a maximum of 3 days. Taking it longer may lead to addiction or worsened headaches.
  • The codeine in Syndol can cause dependence if used continuously for more than 3 days. Withdrawal symptoms may occur when you stop taking the medication.
  • Prolonged use of Syndol for headaches may actually worsen headaches rather than improve them.

Who Should Not Take Syndol?

Syndol should not be taken if you:

  • Are allergic to any of the active ingredients, including paracetamol, codeine, doxylamine, or caffeine.
  • Have certain conditions, such as asthma, severe breathing problems, increased pressure in the head, or recent surgery on the liver, gall bladder, or bile duct.
  • Are under the age of 12 or under 18 and have had tonsil or adenoid removal due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome.
  • Are breastfeeding or pregnant (especially in the third trimester).

How to Take Syndol Tablets

Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist’s instructions for dosage.

  • Children aged 12-15 years: 1 tablet every 6 hours, up to a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours.

What Should You Do If You Take Too Much Syndol?

If you accidentally take too many Syndol Tablets, you may experience symptoms like nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and shallow breathing. Seek immediate medical attention, as an overdose of paracetamol can cause severe liver damage.
